My Kennedy Ancestors My father, James Newman Kennedy, was born in Tennessee on June 12, 1915. He asked my mother to marry him, but she refused and he later married Jonnie Dupes and they begat Gary Eugene [11/1945], Robert Donald [5/1947], and Carol Lee [10/1952]. I never met my father, but according to Belva Kennedy, my aunt, Jim and Jonnie later divorced and Jim was living in the Johnson City area when he died. The last thing my mother told me before she died was that Jim was the only man that she had ever loved. Jim's Aunt, Belva, told me that Jim had told her not long before he died that my mom was the only woman he had ever really loved. It is sad in deed that these two people for whatever the reason, could not share their lives with the one person they loved.
Jim's father, Robert Morgan Kennedy, was born in Tennessee on January 5, 1879. Robert married Iva Ellis McNutt who was born on October 29, 1882. Robert and Iva begat Neva Lee [6/7/1907], Robert Franklin [9/23/1909], Reba Lucille [9/19/1913], and James Newman [6/12/1915]. Robert died 6/28/1957 and Iva died 7/25/1973: both are buried in Niota, Tennessee. Robert's father, James Newman Kennedy, was born in Knoxville, Tennessee on June 6, 1834. James married Elizabeth "Lizzie" Fergerson who was also born in Knoxville on March 21, 1841. James and Lizzie begat Caline B. "Callie" [6/1861-unk], Mary A. [3/1866-7/1952], Lucille E. [unk], Thomas "Tommy" [unk], Archelles H. "Arch" [5/5/1868-1956], Bright [6/20/1875-8/7/1896], Robert B. [1878-unk], and Robert M. [1879-1957]. To be continued-I hope.
